U9 - Sandringham Wolves

The first rainy morning of the football season but luckily most of us found shelter. It was a close game and I think the boys went in with loads of confidence. After a soft goal by Sandringham just before half-time oranges were substituted with lollies in the hope of giving them an unfair advantage but it was not to be. Very proud of the boys as while they lost their way a little it was a solid performance and they are all finding their feet.

Congratulations to Karl on his "Most Valuable Player" award for last weeks effort and scoring 4 goals

Coaches' Corner: A tough game where we had plenty of scoring chances but we missed most of them , we did score two goals though as a result of good team work , one of these goals came of a very good corner kick by Harry. We need to work on our defense at training as this let us down for most of the game'. Our goals came form Charlie and Karl.

GO STINGRAYS!

The score ended up 4-2 to the Wolves

U9 - East Bentleigh Swordfish

Firstly I'd like to thank all the volunteers today.... it seems the kitchen is in much better shape this year. I'd like to apologise about the poor quality of the photo's as they were taken with an iFail 6. What a game, and while your humble manager retuned home to get the forgotten certificate, four goals had been scored. What unfolded next was something spectacular and the reason why we come week after week. The boys were fantastic and played as a team. I think the coaches need the most praise as they're really shaping the boys. Teamwork won today.

Congratulations to Alex on his "Most Valuable Player" award for last weeks great goal keeping.

Coaches' Corner:  It was good to see that our Wednesday training drills are having some affect as the stuff we are practising was actually quite useful in this game and led to a goals by Karl 4, Charlie 2 and Alex 1. Teamwork, going to the ball and a a quick release of the ball towards goal were the keys to winning. East Bentleigh were no walk in the park and it took some good goalkeeping as well to get a result, we had Flynn in the first half and Charlie in the second half who kept a clean sheet. All the boys are now getting into the groove and now looking forward to next week. This was a very pleasing result.

GO STINGRAYS!

The score ended up 7-2 to the Stingrays

Scorers Karl(4), Charlie(2), Alex(1)

U9 Brighton Rhino's

The BLOG is back - I hope we all have a great 2016 season together with loads of laughs, rain or shine. We have a new coach this year so the U9 Reds should really benefit from his experience. JT (not Justine Timberlake) are real assets to our team and come cheap, hell, they're free.

Coaches' Corner:

We were ring rusty in the first half and lost 3 goals, in the second we found a new keeper in Alex who had some great saves conceding only one goal, we also had a couple of shots at goal which did not find the back of the net. We welcomed Harry and Thomas into the team and they both made a good solid start, now looking forward to getting back to Brown's next week and getting some of that good canteen food.

GO STINGRAYS!

The score ended up 4-0 to the Brighton Rhino's
