U9 - Berwich City Bears

Besides for a closed road we arrived to face the bears. The first-half got off to a shaky start playing against the sun and soon we were 2 goals down. The coaches started to plot and after half-time we started to score but sadly so did they albeit soft in nature. The training is paying off as the boys are passing and creating opportunities. The parents were well behaved as we welcomed Harry's Nan who came to watch him score and keep goal. I'm looking forward to the home game next week were we can have a little lie in.

Congratulations to Jackson on his "Most Valuable Player" award for giving it his all and great skills.

Coaches' Corner : The early start did us no favours with most of the boys struggling to get going in the first half when we lost goals that we should have stopped, we did come back in the second half but we left our run too late to win but we did get close. We were left open as we had players bunching together and this cost us goals. We need to work on goalkeeping as we are letting in alot of easy goals. Arun returned after his broken arm and played well. We are looking forward to a more civilised kick off next week.

GO STINGRAYS!

The score ended up 6-3 to Berwich

U9 - Sandringham Dolphins

It was the best match of the season and we lost. Did it matter? NO - Besides for some basic errors we played well against a very tough team. All the boys gave it their all with Harry opened the scoring after 15 seconds. The boys are are starting to show where their strength lie and the coaches are using this to our advantage. Next weeks away game is early and somewhere near NSW. Lets make sure we all get a good nights rest. Thanks to Sue for scoring while I snapped away........

Congratulations to Harry on his "Most Valuable Player" award for outstanding improvement over the weeks

Coaches' Corner : We started with a bang as the boys pushed forward direct from kick off resulting in a goal by Harry Parker in 15 seconds. The Sandringham team were a skilled outfit and they kept both our keepers Flynn and Charlie busy scoring a few goals against us. We played quite well in the first half with a few good moves but the theme of the game was that we were caught out of position on a many occasions resulting in Sandy goals. We did manage to score a few more goals but in the last 10 miutes we struggled as Sandy lifted their game to a higher level. What everybody needs to remember is that we are here to have fun regardless of winning or losing, all the kids are doing their best and are contributing to the best of their different abilities and they all deserve praise for giving it a go in  true Stingary style.

GO STINGRAYS!

The score ended up 6-4 to Sandringham

U9 - Sandringham Wolves (rematch)

The FFV once again messed up the fixtures and once again we faced the Wolves. We were a different team this weekend and our confidence and skills were up for it. With your humble manager shouting to his kids to "go hard" and cheers from the side it was great to see us dominate the game. Both goal keepers were great and Martin and Alex really are fantastic in defence. The game as ever was played in fantastic spirit and without a doubt the fact we have two amazing coaches who care about the kids is bloody awesome. Thank you all and I look forward to the next home game. (and Jackson tearing up the midfield)

Congratulations to James  on his "Most Valuable Player" award for last weeks "Quadi"

Coaches' Corner : Another good team effort resulting in some good goals , we are starting to get a bit more confidence which can be seen in the way we are playing. When we last played this team 3 weeks ago they beat us so it was good to get the win. Thomas had his first time in goals and did well ,Alex did goal keeping the second half and kept a clean sheet. The word on the street is that Arun will be back shortly after his broken arm - the plaster is off.

U9 - Aspendale Stingray's BLUE

The day all started off with your humble manager forgetting the tops at home so I arrived at 11h03 to see the boys about to concede a goal. Suddenly Harry scored and it set the wheels in motion for Karl to also find the back of then net which then led to a absolutely stellar performance from James who slotted in four with Thomas sneaking in his first ever goal. Every goal was a gem which broke our very well matched opponents. Martin had his first ever stint in goal and as luck would have it, ended with a clean sheet. The boys made us very pound today as they we never selfish and played as a team in true Stingray style.

Congratulations to Charlie on his "Most Valuable Player" award for last weeks all-round effort.

Coaches' Corner : A great team effort which resulted in a goal-fest for the boys, it was good to see some of the stuff we have been doing in training actually being done in the game.Everybody really tried their best and at the same time had FUN. It also really good that everybody is having a go at goalkeeping and James and Martin did really well today
