U10 - East Bentleigh (Scorpions)

The day the Heavens opened: The sun was shinning and even the coaches were in t-shirts and then the heavens opened. Boys were shivering (run you little buggers, it will keep you warm) and soaked to the bone.... Even you illustrious manager sought shelter during the worst of it. For some reason we let in 6 goals when; 1. We actually played well, 2. They had a 20 year old boy playing on their side; and 3.The ref made up the rules as he went along. Looking forward to the next match.........

Congratulations to James on his "Most Valuable Player" award for fantastic goal keeping

Coaches' Corner :
We need to run more and we now know we don't like cold rain. If we can run and tackle we will be ok, we did have our chances and scored once which was good. It is not easy when the referee makes crazy decisions in favour of his team but that is what happens in soccer- next week we are back  at home with our referee.

The score ended up 1-6

U10 - Glen Eira (Taipans)

'Twas a great match with its ups and downs but most of all it kept us on the edge of our seats/feets. The opposition played the game in great spirits even if they were being cheered on by a very "special" coach. Charlie was outstanding this week, always giving his all and in some way brought the team with him in the closing minutes. We also need to work on defense and getting the boys to KICK the ball. Thanks again to all the volunteers; it's appreciated by all.

Closing NOTE: Palace lost..... ;-(

Congratulations to Flynn on his "Most Valuable Player" award for a great all-round effort

Coaches' Corner :
Great game - the boys all stepped up and almost grabbed the win against tough opposition - we still need to hold position and not be drawn away to leave a hole - we also need to be better at defensive goal line clearances- we will do all this in training this week- the marking up this week was really good.Overall it was good stuff.

The score ended up 3-4

U10 - Bayside Argonauts FC

The game was played in great spirits in a friendly atmosphere at a fantastic ground. The boys played well and the work the coaches have put in was easy to see. We had our chances but sadly the 2nd half saw us let in some great goals by an opposition who were hungry for a home win.

Congratulations to Arun on his "Most Valuable Player" giving 100% the entire game just like his bro.

Coaches' Corner :
We just need to keep focused and marking players and staying in position for the whole game we did this well until half time and then lost our way a little bit in defense but it is nothing that can't be fixed , so we will do some more on making up at training. It was a close game where we did have goal chances but luck was not with us but it was very fair game. Remember the defenders also need midfield players to come back and help if this does not happen -the it can lead to opposition goals.

The score ended up 0-3

U10 - Sandringham Wolves

The first hiding of the year. The Wolves were a strong unit and pushed the boundaries of what's acceptable on-field but as a unit their win was well deserved. The only lesson I'd take-away from this match as a parent is that I would never trade winning for good sportsmanship and respectful behavior which many of those boys didn't display. Looking forward to the away match.

Congratulations to Charlie on his "Most Valuable Player" giving 100% the entire game

Coaches' Corner : We lost the game with our defense not working properly so we will work on that this week, we did have some chances at goal but luck was not with us, in the end Sandy had some strong players who stood their ground and took their chances,

The score ended up 0-10
